About Me

I am Sayan Chattopadhyay, a PMRF research scholar, Materials Science Centre, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. My education and research experience to the date has given me a strong basis which would effectively help me in my further studies. My academic career has been focused on the science of materials with an emphasis on physicochemical properties and structures of ceramic materials, advanced materials for energy device.

I have done my B.TECH in Ceramic Engineering with 9.23/10 CGPA from Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology, Kolkata. My B.TECH project was on Bioactive glass ceramics for bone implantation including synthesize of Bioglass scaffold to biomedical application and operating incubator to check-in vitro activity of biomaterials in SBF.

I have done my M.TECH in Ceramic Engineering with 9.74/10 CGPA from Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi. I have done M.Tech project titled as ‘Comparative Electrochemical Study of CO2 Reduction on different types of Silver catalytic surface (Polycrystalline, Oxide-derived, Nano-structured) by an In Situ Surface-enhanced Infrared Absorption Spectroscopy’, with prestigious DAAD scholarship under the guidance of Dr.Ulrike Krewer in Institute of Energy and Process Systems Engineering in the Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany as an exchange student.

My expertise is to synthesize different types of ceramic materials through sol-gel, Hydrothermal, Solution Combustion, Solid-state synthesis, reactive sintering, HIP and CIP techniques. I also have expertise in different types of nanomaterials synthesis including transition metal oxides, TMD, Graphene. I have a good hand on experience in nano-thin film deposition techniques, DC&RF sputtering, CVD, and Spin-coating. I also have practical experience of different types of material characterization, like XRD, SEM, TEM, FTIR, DTA, TGA, UV-Vis, PL and TRPL and in different types of electrochemical measurements. I have done my research under the guidance of Dr Santanu Das, Assistant Professor in the IIT BHU Varanasi. I have previously worked on nanomaterials for optoelectronic applications.
